The last 2 months in CorrUpland has been so surreal, it’s been virtually impossible to keep up with Upland’s crony ruling class and their corruption. I have literally seen mountains moved so that a local developer could perform due-diligence while contemplating building 650 high density residential housing units, inside two tracts zoned as public parkland. I have seen epic social media bullying which was already so insanely bad, go to another level which may even be criminal, in my opinion. And instead of Upland being the City of Gracious living, the residents have more accurately renamed our fledgling town on Upland Social Media to Dumpland or CorrUpland, take your pick. And there has been so much drama, carnage and chaos unfolding on a daily basis, that I’ll do my very best to retell a tale with so much intrigue and mystery, I should be charging admission to the Worst Show On Earth!!!! The Citizens against the King of Upland. Round 1 ~ In this corner, we have Martin Thouvenell Retired Police Chief, Fire Chief, Parks & Rec Director and now the Outgoing Interim City Manager and his $108,000 a year, $9,000 every month, consulting contract with the City of Upland! Outgoing Interim City Manager AKA Police Chief / Fire Chief / Parks & Rec Director, Is About To Get ANOTHER JOB, being a Consultant, Which Pays Him Another $9,000 A MONTH!

Oh it’s good to be the KING! What’s another $108,000? That’s only $9,000 a month more for all of 2018! Couple that with his existing Upland pension of $156,789, which is the 4th largest pension in Upland, since he retired as our Police Chief, plus the wages Upland paid him as our Interim City Manager from August 2016 to present! And now after he leaves that position on 12/31/2017, our City Council on Monday night December 11th, will VOTE to continue to pay him even more after he leaves! $108K MORE to be exact, as a private consultant in 2018. Hail and long live the King of Upland!
