Upland redistricted the way be will elect our city council, starting NOW in 2018. We now will have only local district voting, with Upland now divided into 4 voting districts, each with approximately 18,000 +/ – residents. DISTRICT 2 ELECTION, COULD BE DECIDED BY ONLY 2,536 VOTES. DISTRICT 3 BY 1,530 VOTES & DISTRICT 4 BY 1,668 VOTES. AS EACH DISTRICT HAS 18,000 +/- RESIDENTS. IN 2016 (PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION) UPLAND HAD 39,857 REGISTERED VOTERS, WITH 80.57% TURNOUT AND 32,113 VOTES CAST. HOWEVER, IN THE MIDTERM ELECTION OF 2014, UPLAND HAD 42.66% TURNOUT WITH ONLY 15,764 VOTES CAST.
IN 2018, WE CAN EXPECT TO HAVE TURNOUT RATES THE SAME AS 2014, WHICH IS 42.66%. What that looks like per district is;
District 2 HAS 11,892 VOTERS @ 42.66% TURNOUT = 5,073 VOTES
District 3 HAS 7,173 VOTERS @ 42.66% TURNOUT = 3,060 VOTES
District 4 HAS 7,828 VOTERS @ 42.66% TURNOUT = 3,339 VOTES
***And if District 1, filed a legal challenge and got to have an election in 2018, then D1 HAS 11,823 VOTERS & 42.66% TURNOUT = 5,043 VOTES.
These 2018 District Races, Are Expected To Be Won, Assuming Only 2 Candidates Running Per District @ 42.66% VOTER TURNOUT, BY THE BELOW OR ANYTHING GREATER.
Upland District 2 = 2,536 VOTES
Upland District 3 = 1,530 VOTES
Upland District 4 = 1,669 VOTES
So any challengers, should start a list immediately, with the above number in mind, of have to have votes, to win. Then add names to the list of residents in the district, that they can count on to TURNOUT. We will also be organizing volunteer phone banks, to call Upland residents and ask them to vote, later this year.
Also, alternative candidates running in Districts 3 & 4, are running in the 2 newly created Hispanic majority population districts in Upland, by a margin of 20% more Hispanics, than any other race. Upland has the chance of the 1st time in history, to elect 2 Hispanics to Upland City Council. However, hardly anyone even knows about this. It is imperative that the Hispanic candidates running in Districts 3 & 4, tell everyone they know, it is now or NEVER. Both of the Hispanic contenders, need to registrar, registrar, registrar! And you can registrar to VOTE, HERE!
